Workplace Installation Competition

vowe does not realy like the competition that unofficially started last week at Ed Brills site. Its about installing IBM Workplace Services Express (WSE) in 30 minutes or less – and vowe is right when he says „these 30 minutes do not give you a lot more than a pretty face and a slow portal“. But fighting with the poor installation routines prior to WSE and then having a poor user interface and a slow portal that did not integrate very well was even worse. And today I am very happy with that installation routine, because our WSE server stopped working the way it was supposed to be and we had to reinstall everything from the scratch. Reinstall and new install took us 36 minutes. Thats damn good. And it saved my life because I have to show this WSE installation to some interested folks tomorrow morning in Frankfurt.
